Danish designers want to improve the world
Gitte Just, director of Danish Design Association
(www.danishdesignas- sociation.com), says, the future belongs to
design that will improve the world. DDA represents the interests of
Danish design studios at a national and international
level.
For Gitte Just, growth potential is above all offered by strategically motivated design, concepts geared to sustainability and in the field of service design. The decisive factor of the economic success of design is whether the founder succeeds in defining the design focus clearly, thus meeting the requirements of the market.
In Designland Denmark the time of heroes is over; teams is what counts today: with competence, an interdisciplinary approach and an international orien- tation. Team spirit and networking as a recipe for success. 'Copenhagen Co-Creation' (www.copenhagenco- creation.com) was initiated by DDA. The young network's claim is to
shape the future not just for but to- gether with the people and, in doing so, include various discplines. Following the motto of "Designing for Change", useful products and services are to be created. Every two years, the semi-governmental Dansk Design Center (www.ddc.dk) organises the 'Copenhagen Design Week' (www.copenhagendesignweek.dk), comprising many exhibitions, semin- ars and events, which is idealy suited to establishing networks.
The 'CPH Vision' (www.cphvision.dk) fashion and design fairs established 'Designers' Nest'. Under the patronage of Crown Princess Mary, graduates of design universities in Denmark and Sweden, Finland and Iceland present their works to the world's general public here.
